August 6th Hiroshima

I am telling my mother’s Hiroshima story.
***********
On August 6. My mother was in Yasufuruichi; evacuated from Hiroshima. She saw a large mushroom cloud rose that morning. She felt something like light burn on the cheek She was is viewing it supposing from long distance away, but later recognized that was indeed a burn.
Later, people who had serious injuries had been poured; that made her very scared. Her dad pulls a two-wheeled cart in the evening, and said “ Mom (his wife) was having hard-time." When she asked what’s going on, he told her that he had to run over corpses all the times as they are all over the place and he could not them. That made her so scared and she cried she did not want to go back to home. Her house was located Ujina which was on a harbor town across the river from Hiroshima. Her house was spared as the river had stopped the fire.
In Senda-machi, her mother was exposed from on the roof of a private house during her building evacuation, she could not move when she finally reached her home. She had to keep shouting “It is me!” in order to tell her family she was home as her face malformed so much like a ghost therefore people could not recognize her
When my mother was trying to cut the burnt saggy skin of her mother and put burn medicine she got in a milk bottle, her mom said that "Additional bomb attacks may happen, save the medicine" My mom scolded her mother and treated her crying. Her mother passed away in a few days.
Than the tons of people like monster came to Ujina elementary school, begging “water please." She gave water to these people, then they all died. They burned mountains of corpse. It smelled. The heads were falling off as they were burned. That elementary school teacher grabbed her fearful shaky hands and said "Do this way!" and demonstrated proper way of handling fallen heads using the tongs and placed them on the top of the bodies. Her father started complaining that he feels dull, tired and exhausted; her dad passed away following year.
Among people living in Hiroshima, I do not talk story like this; it is common situations among the residents. People in Hiroshima do not want to remember, talk nor brag story. So, No one speaks. They just say, "It was very hard".
***********
Up to 18-year-old, I lived in Hiroshima, and I thought surely August 6 is the day Japan is saddened and pray for peace. But outside of Hiroshima, August 6 is just another ordinary day.
In the hot sun beaming, piles of dead bodies were built in 3meters (10 feet) apart, then burned simultaneously. Such a sight was daily repeated for a while from that day in the southern part of Hiroshima. If today is your garbage collection day, imagine that mountain of garbages had been all human corpse. It will be real surreal horrible sight.
After all, no atomic bomb or war will achieve any good. I want you to tell your children avoid war by all means. I want all governments and organizations believe in "Not engaging warfare; not letting warfare happening” is the ultimate welfare of the all people.
